Ken Kelly, CPA
A New Vision for Accounting – June 18, 11:25-12:15 p.m.

Ken Kelly, Controller at spice giant McCormick and Company, is taking an early, hand on look at a new format for financial statements proposed by The Financial Accounting Standards Board. He is part of what’s being called a presentation project that CFO Magazine says is “ostensibly concerned only with the form, or the face, of financial statements, but it’s quickly becoming clear that it will change and expand their content as well.” Kelly volunteered to serve on a task force that would give input to the FASB and the International Accounting Standards Board about the proposed financial statement format, so he and the finance team at McCormick have been running the numbers to see what they like – and what they don’t – about the new format. Take a look at what the future holds, for the perspective of an experienced user and leader.

Jerry Solomon
What CPAs Need to Know About Lean – June 17, 9-9:50 a.m.

Shingo Award winning author of two books, “Accounting for World Class Operations” and “Who’s Counting?” challenges you to consider this question: Would you lead your business through some radical changes if you knew it would result in a significant improvement in productivity, an increased market share, a reduction in product-development time, improved product quality, better capacity and soaring cash flow?

A nationally recognized speaker and lean expert, Jerry will share the great news of what your company can expect to achieve once you successfully complete the lean transformation. And that's just the start. Lean permeates every aspect of a business. "It's not just about manufacturing," Solomon says. "It's about enterprise excellence." Learn what lean can do for your organization!

Mike Willis, CPA,
XBRL: Leveraging Standards to Streamline Business Reporting
June 18, 8:10-9 a.m.
XBRL: SEC Focus, June 18, 1:20-2:10 p.m.
What You Need To Know About IFRS, June 18, 4:10-5 p.m.

Mike Willis is a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and founding chairman of XBRL International, composed of more than 350 leading software, accounting and finance companies from 24 countries around the world. XBRL is an enabling tool that is revolutionizing the business reporting supply chain benefiting preparers, distributors, aggregators and consumers of this information. Willis consults with companies on their adoption of emerging technologies used in business reporting, business intelligence and decision analysis processes. He also is co-author of the book, “XBRL for Dummies”. Willis will challenge the thinking that XBRL is an external reporting activity, "when it’s actually designed to solve pervasive process problems," He points to four internal process problems in particular that will benefit from XBRL. Willis likes to compare XBRL to the Universal Product Code symbol, more commonly known as the bar code. Viewed with skepticism when it was introduced in the mid-1960s, the bar code is a form of standardization that improves processes for retailers and saves them huge amounts of money. XBRL will do the same thing for companies -- find out how.

We will be presenting Zdanowksi in world, or from Second Life, and in the Baltimore Covention Center simultaneously, to demonstrate the power and potential virtual business.
