Swearing-in Ceremony of Newly Licensed CPAs

Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm (The ceremony will be followed by a reception. You are welcome to arrive early to attend the MD Biz Expo exhibits held in the same hall.)

On Tuesday evening, the Honorable Secretary Thomas E. Perez of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation will administer an oath to newly licensed Certified Public Accountants at a special swearing-in ceremony. These new CPAs are committed to meet the future demands of Maryland’s business community and will make their commitment to protecting the public interest as Certified Public Accountants. Maryland was the third state to enact CPA legislation on April 10, 1900 and the first state to restrict audits of financial statements to licensed Certified Public Accountants. That is why we say, CPA..Licensed to serve since 1901.
This event is invitation-only for newly licensed CPAs (since July 1, 2006) and their friends and family, State of Maryland officials, special guests, and MACPA members.

Thomas E. Perez, Secretary, Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation
Tom Perez is a nationally recognized consumer advocate and civil rights lawyer who was appointed by Governor Martin O'Malley in 2007 to serve as the Secretary of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR). DLLR enforces workplace safety laws, wage and hour security; protects consumers rights laws; collaborates with businesses and workers to address workforce development and build a world-class workforce. Secretary Perez has spent his entire career in public service.
